Reuters: Blacks to be Harrassed to not Vote
If the past serveral elections are any indication, African-Americans should beware of dirty tricks, phony veiled threats, and arbitrary enforcement of arcane 19th century Post-Civil War laws to discourage their voting.
Vickey Beasly, a rep for the People of the American Way describes, "In elections in Baltimore in 2002 and in Georgia last year, black voters were sent fliers saying anyone who hadn't paid utility bills or had outstanding parking tickets or were behind on their rent would be arrested at polling stations. It happens in every election cycle."
In Philadelphia's mayoral election last year, schemers posing as plainclothes police officers demanded voters identify themselves. There were also reports of mysterious persons shooting video of blacks waiting in line to vote. Just recently in Florida, people were wrongly turned away when they could not produce a photo ID. Only first-time voters registered by mail are mandated to do so, not those who have been registered to vote for years.
Another big problem could be the recurrence Florida's 2000 election shenaningans, where the President's brother Jeb happens to be governer. Names of voters were somehow magically purged from the voting list that year. Many of them, uncoincidentally, happened to be African-American.
There are also curious issues where registration forms somehow get lost in the mail, especially in swing states, or were rejected on a technicality of which the voter is not informed until it is too late.
Let's here it for the return of Jim Crow!
